From the Vault - Round #4
Date of Event : Sat Oct 27, 2018 9:28AM

On this weekend in season 2015/16 Cassie Brock produced her maiden century for Box Hill against Melbourne in the 1st XI. Box Hill made a total of 2/319 from their 50 overs. Cassie had some support from the other end with Meg Lanning making 170 not out from 136 balls with 15 boundaries and 4 sixes in another masterclass. The 2nd wicket partnership of 235 just fell short of the club record 2nd wicket partnership of 242 (yes also involving Meg). Cassie also followed this up with 4/38 from her 10 overs to bowl Melbourne out for 226 in another match winning all-round performance.

On this weekend in 1997/98 David “Barge” Carter took the unbelievable figures of 9/18 from 16 overs against Ivanhoe in the 4th XI. The bowling performance broke John Hogg’s previous 4th XI record of 8/8 and not unsurprisingly still stands today. Adrian Greening picked up the other wicket to spoil “Barge’s” perfect 10. Matt Hamilton was the only other bowler used. Ivanhoe were bowled out for 55 from 38 overs in reply to Box Hill’s 193 following a knock of 94 from Adrian Greening. Box Hill had a second crack at Ivanhoe and had them 5/121 with Adrian Greening picking up all 5 wickets – an impressive enough game but clearly overshadowed by Barge (who does cast a fairly large shadow).
