With all teams on the field this week we start back with this season's first edition of FROM THE VAULT which features yet another Meg Lanning masterclass and a debut from a much talked about but less seen leg spinner.

On this weekend in season 2016/17 Meg Lanning knocked up yet another century with 126 not out from 110 balls as Box Hill chased down Plenty Valley's imposing total of 213. Box Hill passed Plenty Valley's total in the 36th over without a wicket falling. Meg was supported by English import Georgia Hennessy (76 not out) in a dominant display to start the season off with a win - many might have called it a patient display with just 14 boundaries and no sixes.

On this weekend in season 1994/95 a debutant named Frank Foley returned figures of 6 for 35 from 10 overs with his viciously turning leggies in the 3rd eleven's victory over North Balwyn. North Balwyn were restricted to 119 from its 40 overs with Frank being thrown the ball by captain Alan Wood following little impact from the mediums (Darryl "Polly" Farmer, David Carter and Rob Fortington). Box Hill went on to pass the total in the 2nd last over with the loss of just 3 wickets - Frank wasn't able to back up his stellar display with the ball falling for 11. The partnership of Simon Blake (47 not out) and Polly (39 not out - yes for some reason Polly was batting at 5) saw the side home. Frank's name is not widely known through the history of Box Hill - stats show that only played just the 9 games during the 1 season. Most memories from those that played with Frank focus on his bleary eyes and love of the night life - living near the Geebung was probably not conducive to playing cricket on Saturdays.
