Rainy Saturday Arvo Reading - From the Vault
Date of Event Box Hill Cricket Club : Sat Nov 2, 2019 3:09PM

On this weekend in season 2011/12 Madeline Clayton took the impressive figures of 5 for 17 from 7 overs to rout Brunswick Park for a crushing victory for the 2nd XI. Box Hill compiled 178 from its 45 overs (Margaret “Minnie” Pretty making a century - and the subject of FROM THE VAULT last season). Maddie quickly went to work and was ably supported by Bella Poon (3 for 5 from 4 overs) and the rest of the attack that kept the pressure on dismissing Brunswick Park 104 in the 36th over.

On this weekend in season 2005/06 Sam Morris captured his maiden 5 wicket haul in the 2nd XI's round 4 game against Bayswater at City Oval. Sam led the bowling attack delivering 22 overs to return the figures of 5 for 51. Unfortunately Sam's heroics were not enough with Bayswater passing Box Hill's low total of 158 - contributions from captain Jason McNulty, Trent Batchelor and Daniel Upton.  The following season Sam went on to play every single game in the 1sts and played a starring role in the 1st X1 Premiership - living up to his self-anointed nickname "The Dominator". Unfortunately Sam's bowling career was cut short with injury the following pre-season however he still continues to contribute as a batsman in the 4ths. Interesting Sam only took one other 5 wicket haul for the club (I thought it was more) - the well told story of the 2006/07 semi final victory.

Good luck to all teams this weekend.
