On this weekend in season 2011/12 Anna Lanning led Box Hill 1sts to a resounding victory over Dandenong in its T20 clash. Having restricted Dandenong to 6/79 from its 20 overs Anna (54 not out) opened the batting with Casey Hawley (15 not out) and quickly went about the task of securing an early finish - passing Dandenong without the loss of a wicket in just 11.4 overs. Anna is one of the most decorated players to have represented Box Hill (2 x Una Paisley medal, multiple Club Champion, B&F, batting awards and premierships) and continues to juggle representative duties with the ACT and Melbourne Renegades whilst eagerly travelling back to Melbourne to represent Box Hill when available.
On this weekend in season 2017/18 Michael Vozzo scored a quick fire 111 not out in the 2nd XI's victory over Noble Park. At 3/51, Vozz puffed his chest out and joined Jarrod Smith (66) at the crease - combining for a partnership of 168 to see Box Hill reach 4/229 from its 45 overs. Vozz struck 6 boundaries and 6 sixes in his unbeaten knock - he has a knack of intimidating bowlers to bowl "half-trackers" and full tosses. Box Hill went on to restrict Noble Park to 9/214 from its 45 overs for a well earned win leading into the Christmas break. Although retired from playing / coaching duties Vozz continues to support the club as the Director of Men's Cricket.
Good luck to all teams this week and importantly a safe and happy Christmas / New Year.
