Box Hill Cricket Club delighted to announce Simon Cornelius is joining the club as our Men’s Head Coach.
Simon played the last 3 seasons at Premier Cricket club Greenvale Kangaroos as the 2nd XI captain. He moves across to the Mighty Box Hill City Oval to take over the vacant Men’s Head Coach role following Richard Armstrong's shift to the Women’s Head Coach role.
Simon has previously played 100 1st XI games at St Andrews in the RDCA and played four seasons at Yarraville CC before moving to Greenvale.
Simon said: "I was drawn to the enthusiastic young group, their eagerness to learn and to the very dedicated committee.
"I hope to develop a culture of responsibility, communication, and inclusion. I'm looking forward to working with each player on identifying their strengths and weaknesses to ensure they understand the strategy to enhance and minimise these respectively."
Director of Men's Cricket, Michael Vozzo said: "Simon has many years experience and comes highly recommended from people within the broader cricketing community including Richard Armstrong. He brings coaching experience at Premier Cricket, an understanding of Sub District cricket having previously played in the competition and has the ideal philosophies on coaching that suit our young playing list.
"He plans to empower the players and has a calm nature that will ensure players entrust him in improving their individual games that will further enhance our Men’s program."
Speaking on the outgoing Men's coach Richard Armstrong, Michael said: "Whilst Richard was only in the position of Men’s coach for 12 months, he undoubtedly made a huge impact on our players. He introduced several new and exciting young players to the club that we hope become long term players but he also encouraged established players to reach new heights with no greater examples being Jack McLaren, Kyle Rayner, Jayden Clay and Sam Kimber. We now look forward to Simon taking the baton and continuing Richard's great work."
