Following a robust interview process, Box Hill Cricket Club is incredibly excited to announce the appointment of Michael (Mick) Hancock to the role of Director of Women’s Cricket for Season 22/23.
Many of our players would have had the pleasure of working with Mick last season during his time as our part-time batting coach. Mick made an immediate and positive impression on many of the playing group and this, in combination with his coaching and life experience, makes him perfectly suited to this newly created position.
Mick’s cricket resume includes positions at Mazenod, Inner South East Scorpions, Camberwell Grammar School and he is currently the Head Coach of Nightcliff CC in Darwin. He has helped to steer many cricket teams to premiership success but more importantly has helped to create a respectful, elite and welcoming Club culture.
The Director of Women’s Cricket role’s key accountabilities are; to oversee the coaching program, oversee selection committee, player coaching, mentoring and development. In Mick’s new role he will work very closely with Richard Armstrong as Head Coach in ensuring a high-quality training program and consistent messaging in relation to Club values and selection.
As mentioned, Mick is currently in Darwin with Nightcliff so his face-to-face contact will be limited until he returns in September however, he has already begun to work behind the scenes with Richard and the committee on the upcoming seasons program.
On his new appointment, Mick said “he is looking forward to getting to work to help create the elite environment every player, coach, supporter, and parent wants to see their cricket club provide. Richard and myself will be in touch over the next month to discuss both the individual and collective plans for season 22/23".
Applications for the Assistant Coach, Women's Cricket role close this week as the club looks to further bolster our strong coaching unit ahead of what will be an exciting Season 22/23 at BHCC.
